Ghost Mannequin Apparel Photography, what is it? Well back in the day, all us photographers were used to photographing clothes laying down flat or on hangers but the times have changed. We are now able to be more creative and capture T-shirts, jeans, blazers, long dresses, coats, socks, underwear, and swimwear in a ghost-like effect way. Meaning when capturing these clothes they look like someone is wearing clothes. This is called Ghost Mannequin Photography, which allows you to take multiple images on a model or mannequin and combine the images to give you a realistic appearance. 

There are many different types of mannequins you can choose from to achieve this type of photography. Some are easier to use than others just depends on the amount of money you want to spend on your mannequin. Mannequins can range from $50-$2,000 and they come in all sorts of colors ranging from black, tan, silver, chrome, and white. Many photographers find that a white matte mannequin is the best color to use because they don't reflect light as much as the other colors. When posing the mannequin make sure that the arms do not obstruct the body of the mannequin when you are photographing straight on. This is very important or else you won’t be able to cut out long-sleeved shirts and other clothing items the correct way. The advantage of shooting in ghost style is that you can style the clothes swiftly and show the cuffs and inner layer in your photos were if you photographed them laying down you would not be able to achieve ghost-like results.
